When going outside, you find yourself in all kinds of different places. And in these scenes, various people constantly cross the way. Yet, walking past each other usually takes place on the side.

Lost in our world and thinking about whatever moves us now, humans are often pretty busy with themselves. But doing so frequently means withholding the opportunity to experience the presence of the other.

I took this photo in spring 2021. You can see people walking on a street that is covered by a very old train bridge. Javastraat is a busy street in Amsterdam Oost that has many coffee places, shopping opportunities, restaurants, and markets.
