Tunnel vision (street art in Amsterdam Oost)

Tunnel vision

Now and then, a story becomes more influential than it initially was thought to be. And so, slowly but surely, thoughts begin to revolve around what earlier didn’t seem to have such a huge weight. Once the importance of such a story has sunk in, it soon takes over, and suddenly, nothing is as it was before.

Thoughts roll over, spin around, and stand upside down, but they all still lead in the same direction, creating a tunnel vision. While this focus strategy might help find a solution in some cases, this approach does not apply to all.

It is essential to consider where to go before everything gets out of hand. Yet, some stories are difficult to influence or even direct. Therefore, it sometimes is important to accept that you cannot control or fix everything. Though acceptance is harder to achieve, at times, it is a wiser choice than dwell in tunnel vision for too long time.

Street art in Amsterdam Oost

Street art is an important part of Amsterdam's culture and identity. Even though the city has experienced some changes in recent years, street art is still very much alive and well.

I took this photo early in 2021, and you can see that there is some really great street art under a motorway bridge on the A10 in Amsterdam Oost. This particular piece is by an artist who is well-known for his work in the city, and it's definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of street art.

Hi there, I'm Stefanie, the photographer, and author of the blog post you're reading now.
