A summer day in Amsterdam (De Duif)

A summer day

While walking down the city’s streets on this splendid afternoon, the smell of joy lies in the air, and it feels fantastic. A light breeze blows through the streets and asks the tree’s leaves for a dance. As their approval is not long in coming, they soon begin to rustle, forming a shallow well-balanced melody on this summer day in Amsterdam.

At a second glance, however, other elements break with this perfect picture. They create apparent contrasts and strongly differentiate from each other – incorrectly played notes of the shallow well-balanced melody. As others walk by on the narrow footpaths, looking for the same that I am chasing, I understand that it seems to be the whole picture’s different aspects that combine and form a complete work of joy.

De Duif in Amsterdam

I took this photo in July 2021 at Prinsengracht in Amsterdam. On a beautiful summer day in Amsterdam, you can see a houseboat in front of the building “De Duif”. De Duif is a former church that today is used for events. You can find this building at the famous Prinsengracht in the city center.

Hi there, I'm Stefanie, the photographer, and author of the blog post you're reading now.
