Setting boundaries (Amsterdam city centre)

Setting boundaries

Growing up, we experiment with our surroundings to determine what is acceptable and what isn’t. While doing so, others are setting your boundaries by constantly showing what is acceptable, though, of course, that does not necessarily have to be morally justified.

Yet, at some point, the feeling might arise that you no longer need to deal with this topic because you already grew up and things are settled. However, the difference is that you can now set your boundaries. Hence, this is urgently needed because grown-up people are constantly testing their boundaries, and if you’re not careful, you suddenly live the reality of others.

The city center

I took this photo in the Summer of 2022. You can see the iconic Dutch canals in the city center of Amsterdam. Next to it, you can find the iconic Dutch houses for which the city is famous. On the right side of the photo, you see an iron construction already covered with all kinds of greens. The Dutch city of Amsterdam is extremely beautiful in Summer. People sit outside; you can see boats in the canals, and the green trees and beautiful colors frame every street.

Hi there, I'm Stefanie, the photographer, and author of the blog post you're reading now.
