Losing shelter (Zaanse Schans Windmills)

Loosing shelter

Finding a shelter to stay in serves elementary needs. Consequently, it needs a lot of effort to pick a suitable place because a wrong decision could negatively affect one’s actions’ consequences.

A place to stay serves as a cocoon in which it is possible to simply be. One may enjoy this shelter since it offers security, the possibility to relax and enjoy. Besides, one can uninterruptedly spend time with others, oneself, and the things one loves. This shelter is where one may enjoy the bright moments and find comfort in dark times.

It is tempting to assume that one came to stay because it feels so cozy, warm, and comforting. Yet, in modern times, nests get lost faster than expected, and suddenly, there is no shelter anymore because one is obliged to try one’s luck elsewhere.

Zaanse Schans Windmills

I took this photo in the summer of 2020 in Zaanse Schans (The Netherlands). Zaanse Schans is a unique and picturesque village in the Netherlands, just outside Amsterdam. It is famous for its traditional Dutch windmills, most of which were built in the 18th century. Over 10 of these old windmills still stand today, making it one of the best places to visit if you want to experience Dutch history and culture in all its glory.

The windmills are a pleasant sight to behold and a reminder of the past when these magnificent structures were used for producing oil, pigments, flour, and other products. The windmills have even been turned into museums and workshops where visitors can learn more about the history of these iconic Dutch landmarks.
